>This is so sad! A concert was scheduled here for Sunday. I was sad because I couldn’t attend, but I would not wish this on anyone. There are going to be a lot of disappointed people.

After crafting a dynamic comeback album called “Second Chance,” El DeBarge has experienced a relapse in drug use.
The singer, whose history with substance abuse has long been documented, has voluntarily checked himself back into a rehabilitation facility to seek treatment for an assumed relapse.
“I hate to disappoint my fans, but it is necessary for me to take the time to work on me so that I may continue to share my music and my story with everyone,” said the singer in a statement. “I thank everyone in advance for their prayers and well wishes and hope that you will respect my privacy during this time.”
The 49-year-old has been battling drug abuse for the past decade. In 2001, he was arrested for cocaine possession, and was again detained in 2006 for possession of a controlled substance.
DeBarge was set to tour with headlining act KEM and opener Ledisi starting this Thursday, but was replaced by Musiq (Soulchild) on Monday.
“Second Chance” was released to critical acclaim last November.
My prayers are with El DeBarge and his family!
