Last year, on the 6th, my Grandmother, my Daddy’s Mama, passed! This year on the 6th, my Uncle had a massive stroke and as I drove to work this morning, I got the news that he passed this morning. The title of my blog is because, I spoke to my cousin earlier this week and she told me her Daddy was making the transition and he could go at any time, we just don’t know. And I didn’t make it to see him before he passed. Everything happens for a reason, and it’s probably a blessing that I will remember the way he was, upbeat, jovial, giving my Aunt a hard time about his tv shows! LOL They had been married for 55 years! That’s a blessing in itself!

RIP Uncle Ro!

As we prepare for yet another May funeral, I ask that you please keep my family in your prayers.

We’re booked for a beach getaway to celebrate our 4th Wedding Anniversary and I can’t wait!

• I’m tired Boss! For the next month, it will be busy at work for me!
• In 21 days, I will celebrate my 4th year Anniversary!
• I see a beach vacay in my future and I can’t wait!
• I had a great weekend hanging out in ATL with my BFF!
• Tomorrow is my Daddy’s Birthday! I can’t believe he’s no longer here with us!
• The above bullet has me sad! Daddy has been gone 3 years in 10 days!
• In other news, I need to get back on my exercise game ASAP!
• I want to eat clean, but still am uncertain of what that entails exactly, so Mr. Google has been my friend.
• Oh, I’m going to see Lil Weezy and T.I. and I can’t wait! The Hubs didn’t want to go, so my  co-workers and I are going lol!
• I’m hood with my preference of music yo, as can be seen from the bullet above.

Mods: I added Rotel Tomatoes and topped it with Salsa and Sourcream.

Chicken Dinner

Verdict: I enjoyed the meal, but see the Mods below.

Mods: I opted to use broccoli, but after baking in the oven over for an hour, it lacked the crunch that I like, too mushy, so next time either I’ll stick to green beans (not my fav) or cut down the cooking time.

Lobster Rolls

After dinner we headed to the ball park. I’m not a baseball fan at all, but my husband wanted to go and I won *wink* tickets from work. We always have giveaways for the games, so when they announced it, I just put my name in and wouldn’t you know, I won! It pays to work in HR! It was cool out that night and one of my coworkers told me to take a blanket. I’m so glad I did. The Barons won the game and since it was a Friday night game, we stayed for the fireworks after.

Saturday I had my Beauty is Pain ritual, threading and waxing and then I stopped and grabbed us some lunch from Zoes Kitchen. This is my fav meal there:

Later that night, I went to Seasons 52 for my girlfriend’s birthday dinner. And I changed up from my usual order and tried the Salmon. I’ve decided I’m going to stick with the Scallops. Love them! Here are a few of the pics from her dinner. Seasons 52 just opened here last month, but I’ve been a fan for years, since they first opened when I lived in ATL.

My husband and I had a Saturday date Easter Weekend and took in the movie Temptation instead of going on our usual Sunday and we had a great meal on our first visit to the new Birmingham location.

Then on this past Monday, I had the pleasure of taking in a FREE99 concert with the talented, Grammy winning jazz singer and bassist, Esperanza Spalding! She was fabulous!

Her appearance was sponsored by the UAB College of Arts and Sciences and is a part of yearlong celebrations as Birmingham marks the 50th year anniversary of the Civil Rights Movement.

My Lord! We are really in some trying times y’all! My thoughts and prayers are with everyone affected by the Boston Bombing. When I have class, which I’ve been in since December of last year, it’s hard for me to get any social media in, so I had no idea anything had occurred on Monday. When my co-worker dragged me to her desk to look at the TV, I just couldn’t believe it! I immediately felt my heart drop and I had tears in my eyes. And I thought about one of my former co-workers and friends that relocated back to Boston last year and she’s a runner, so I grabbed my phone to text her. My husband thought I would have trouble getting through to her, but thankfully I didn’t! She text me right back. She was tired and had stayed in all day on Patriot’s Day. As we texted back and forth, she told me another one of our former co-workers and friends texted her while we had been chatting back and forth. It’s good to have good friends and to know that she was safe was a wonderful feeling! Again, my thoughts and prayers are with those affected by the Boston tragedy and I’m praying for our country!

Also, insomnia is a dirty BYOTCH! I woke about 1 AM ish and couldn’t go back to sleep! And that is how I learned about the West, TX explosion. I’m honestly scared to learn of anymore injuries or deaths.

We must stay in continuous prayer y’all!

I’ve been reading whatever Kindle book I can find for FREE99. I lucked up a few weeks ago and read three in a week. Short, easy reads and they were all African American authors. First up is:

And then I ran across a free preview of Kimberla Lawson Roby’s upcoming novel, A House Divided, to be released on May 7, 2013.  I can’t wait to see what Reverend Curtis Black is up to next!
